Face Up To It

As the world adapts to a new normal, there are some changes that are more visible than others. Handshakes are rare, hand sanitiser more frequent and, probably most apparent, is the rise of personal protection equipment, in particular, face masks. Their recent inclusion into our lists of necessities has triggered a flurry of designers releasing their own chic version of the PPE; some go for the paired back monochrome look, others keep it interesting with bright colours and eye catching prints, all unfortunately cover one of the most expressive parts of our face.

However, Louis Vuitton’s upcoming version of PPE will no longer have you practicing your smizing in the mirror. The LV Shield is a light sensitive protective visor, designed to keep you safe, while letting you break free from any face coverings and most importantly, keep you looking chic at all times.

Featuring a comfortable elasticated strap, emblazoned with LV’s distinct monogram, studs on each side of the shield are reminiscent of the brand’s iconic trunks and allow mobility of the visor, becoming a cap peak once lifted. Ideal for the upcoming Summer months, with the breathability not offered by most facemasks, the photochromatic shield switches from clear to dark in direct sunlight, giving you multiple points of protection. While it’s definitely a choice for the bold, seeing this stylish take on personal protection offers a little brightness to a dampened year in fashion.
